Monitoring Systems for Special Purposes

Expiriences, gained from various environmental monitoring systems, are used in AMES to develop other measuring networks for special purposes. An example of such system is automatic system of Beekeepers Association of Slovenia. It consists of 30 autonomous stations across Slovenia with beehives on the digital scales and with automatic transmission of weight increments by GSM to the central computer. Beekepers are thus on-line informed about conditions for honey production in different parts of Slovenia.

Another special-purpose system is network of battery-powered field units that monitor the state of LBC valves on natural-gass pipeline (installed for Geoplin, Ljubljana).

Ad-hoc measuring systems

During highway construction, AMES had measured and analized wind conditions on critical locations (knot Razdrto, highway Razdrto - Koper, highway Razdrto - Nova Gorica, viaduct Črni Kal, tunnel Markovec).

Temporary installations help to get additional data on the most polluted areas.

Environmental Modeling

Permanent and temporary measuring systems can provide data for dispersion modeling of atmospheric pollution with Gaussian or Lagrangean models. AMES carried out modeling projects, including all necessary measurements, for the Krško Nuclear Power Plant, Trbovlje Thermal Power Plant / Lafarge Trbovlje and for the Šoštanj Thermal Power Plant.
